Handshakes and Signatures

Back in the day…a few hundred years ago, a handshake actually meant something. A covenant meant something. Agreements were taken seriously.

Now, it's different. We are starting to require that people sign their name to some projects saying that they will commit to the time involved to make a product. The interesting thing is that this doesn't help anything. People still get overcome by events. People still put other priorities in front of our projects. It's not that I blame them, but our leadership folks tend to think that the signature will make all the difference.

Not so. In fact, our leaders don't even keep their own commitments.

Anyway, just some thoughts. It would be nice if we could just shake hands on some things still.
