Throwing up on the web

In a meeting today and someone said that we should just take the content and “throw it up on the web.”

An informed web person shot back with, what can only be an already used line, “there will be no throwing up here.”

Very clever indeed.

In our web 2.0 world, we actually can “throw stuff up” on the web fairly easy. But, this often falls into the category of “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

With the web tools being placed in the hands of both the competent and the unaware incompetent, we are still bound to see poor examples of web design, less desirable graphics and ill worded content.

I can only point this out as a matter of fact because personally, I am sometimes not sure which of these people I am. In fact, there are probably grammar mistakes right here in this passage.

So, in my mind, even if any of us can “throw up on the web,” there is still a need for real talent in the areas of web design, web development, graphic artists, flash developers, instructional designers, copy editors, editors, etc.

It may be time for me to call a few of them for a little help with this site.
