We are sitting on a conference call and one of the experts is acting out a bit on the other line.
Our facilitator presses mute and states very loudly “He’s an IDIOT!” to all of us (and to all those eavesdropping in the open meeting area.)
Was he for sure the mute button worked? Was he sure we all felt the same way? Was it really SO bad that this had to be announced loudly mid-call?
I’m not sure sure.
But, I did leave the meeting thinking – which guy was the real idiot?
If you want to make a comment like that, always do a test “Hello” before making your comment into the supposedly muted phone.
Better yet, don’t open your mouth with such things during a conference call.
